Seth Herring was the third child of George Washington Herring Jr. and Josima McNerva Allen. He was born Dec 11, 1875 in Callaway Co. Missouri. He was known by the nickname of Jack. Seth Herring was my granduncle. Seth married Myrtle Qalls on Aug 16, 1910 in Callaway Co., Missouri. Myrtle Qualls was born on March 1, 1887 in Callaway Co. Missouri. She was a daughter of Powell Qualls and Euphemia Althiser. Seth (Jack) and Myrtle Herring had two children:

(Jack) Herring Dies Wednesday Funeral Services To Be Held Here Saturday Afternoon Seph J. (Jack) Herring, 72, died Wednesday evening at his home, 514a Court street, after an illness of five months. He had been suffering with a heart condition. Funeral services will be held at the Wallace Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock with the Rev. C.E. Hanan officiating, and burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Clarence Foster. Steve Ruffel, Elwood Day, Fred Rentschler, Ollie Robert, and Tom Day. Mr. Herring was a paper hanger and painter. He was born in Callaway County on December 11, 1875, a son of George W. and Joe Allen Herring. On August 16, 1910, he and Miss Myrtie Qualls were married. He is survived by his widow and two children, George Herring of Fulton, and Mrs. Ruby Payton of Long Beach, Calif., three grandchildren, ___ and ___ Herring and ___ Payton, and eigth brothers and sisters, Norman and Grover Herring of Melrose, Fla., Woodson Herring of Craig, Colo., Herbert Herring and Mrs. Myrtle McCormick of Kansas City, Brent Herring of Detroit, Mich., Robert Herring and Mrs. Mamie Waters of Fulton. Mrytle Qualls Herring died in 1971. She is buried in Hillcrest cemetery, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri. |
