Estate of Nathan D. Carrington
Order Refusing Letters of Administration

Now at this day comes Eliza S. Carrington and shows to the Court that she is the widow of Nathan D. Carrington late of the County of Callaway deceased, who died, having at the time of death personal property in this State, not greater in amount than is allowed by law as the absolute property of the widow.

To the end, therefore, that the said Eliza S. Carrington as such widow may be authorized and empowered to collect, sue for, and retain said property, as her absolute property, as provided by law, it is ordered that Letters of Administration on said Estate be refused, unless on the application of creditors or other parties interested, the existence of further or other property be shown.

A true copy from the record.

County of Callaway


Eliza S. Carrington being duly sworn on her oath says that she is the widow of Nathan D. Carrington deceased late of the County of Callaway, who died on or about the 31st day of January, 1912, and that the estate of said deceased does not exceed the sum of __ Seventy Five __ dollars in value, consisting of:

First: A family Bible and other books of the value of 1.00 Dollars.

Second: Household, kitchen and table furniture including beds, bedsteads and beding of the value of Twenty five Dollars.

Third: Provisions of the value of Five Dollars.

Fourth: Other personal property consisting of, one horse value $15.00, Set harness, 2.00, longgen 20.00, buggy 5.00 amounting in the aggregate to the sum of $75.00 Dollars.

That the family of said decedent consisted of Eliza, widow, Elmer, Dollie, Carson, Eulah Carrington, last two minors, Ida Millard. and that in addition to the provisions on hand and provided at the time of the death of said decedent, there will be needed for the subsistence of said family for twelve months, the sum of Two hundred Dollars in lieu of provisions not so on hand.

Said affiant further states that deceased had no property or effects of any kind whatsover, at the time of his death, except the property above mentioned, as far as she has been able to assertain.

Wherefore, she prays the court to order that no Letters of Administration be issued on said estate, unless on the application of creditors or other parties interested, the existence of other or further property be shown.
