Samuel Carrington was my 4th great grandfather. He was a son of John Carrington and Susannah Murphy. Samuel was born about 1754 in Port Tobacco, Charles Co. Maryland
He married Mildred McDaniel by Rev. George W. Worsley, an Episcopal Rector of Port Tobacco Parish on January 8, 1782, They moved to Mt. Stearling Ky in 1804. Samuel Carrington was a private in John Hanson's company of Maryland's Militia, 12th Battilion of Charles Co. (Maryland Revolutionary War List p. 33) Samual and Mildred had nine children:
The following is from the Pioneer Families of Missouri book written in 1876, which is not always accurate: CARRINGTON, Samuel Carrington, of Montgomery Co., MD., married MILDRED MCDANIEL, and settled in Montgomery Co., KY. They had Thomas, Randolph, Timothy, John, Samuel, Elizabeth, Susan, Sally and Priscilla. Randolph married CATHARINE MCGAREY, and they had William, John, Samuel, Randolph, Jr., Emily, Nancy and Permelia. They settled in Callaway Co.; in 1826. William Carrington was judge of the county court one term. He married SUSAN FISHER. John was married first to ELIZA RANDOLPH, and second to NANCY HYTON. Samuel married LYDIA A. BOWEN. Emily married JOHN MARTIN. Nancy married ELISHA DAVIS. Permelia married HIRAM HOLT. All of the above live in Callaway Co. Item I give and bequeth to my dearly beloved wife Milly Carrington one third part of my property both real and personal during her natural life or widowhood. I give and bequeth unto my son John Carrington and Samuel Carrington all that tract or parcel of land where on I now live. Containing one hundred and forty four acres deeded from George W. Higgins to me, it is further my will and desire in case either of my sons John or Samuel should die without a lawful heir that the whole of the land shall belong to the survivor. I do give and bequeth unto my son John Carrington one negro boy Peter to him and his heirs forever. Item I give and bequeth unto my daughter Puircilla Carrington one negro boy named George and one horse which is called Selam to her and her heirs forever, Item I will and bequeth unto my daughter Elizabeth Caywood one hundred dollars in cash to her and her heirs forever. Item It is my further will and desire that my beloved wife Milly and my son John Carrington and Samuel Carrington shall have all the farming utensils together with my two oxen and cart two work horses, that is a Bay mare and Sorrel mare for the use of the farm and in case of the decease or marriage of my wife Milly Carrington, it is then my will and desire that my two sons John and Samuel shall have the whole of my farming utensels together with the oxen and cart & the two mares above mentioned. Item I give and bequeth unto my five children Thomas Carrington, Randolph Carrington, Timothy Carrington, Susan Hoffman & Sarah McDannold all the ballance of my property not otherwise bequeathed to be equally divided among them and their heirs forever.
