Fulton Missouri newspaper, Mar 2001, Mercedes Herring Mercedes Herring, 90, of Fulton, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at the Presbyterian Manor in Fulton. She was born March 27, 1910, on Easter Sunday, in St. Louis, to the late William and Maude (Stauffen) Rowe. She married Arleigh Herring on April 8, 1956. He preceded her in death on Aug. 26, 1981. Survivors include seven nieces and nephews, Georgiana Jones of Florissant; Richard Muse and Garry Muse, both of Maryland Heights; Wendy Stengel and Robert Dunavant, both of Overland; Donna Weaver of St. Ann; and William Dunavant of Las Vegas; and several great- nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers and a nephew. Mrs. Herring attended the Missouri Baptist Nursing School. She later worked as a registered nurse for Dr. G.F. Wood until his retirement. She was a lifetime member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 35 in Fulton and was a member of the Court Street Methodist Church in Fulton for 75 years. Services are 1 p.m. Saturday at Maupin Funeral Home, in Fulton, with Bruce Williamson officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Fulton. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, or the Humane Society. |
