Ida Lee Carrington and Oliver T. Millard


Ida Lee Carrington was born April 24, 1884 in Callaway Co., Missouri. She was my grandaunt, the oldest child of Nathaniel Dillard Carrington and Eliza S. Herring.

On August 2, 1905, she married Oliver T. Millard in Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri. Oliver was born October 4, 1883 in Callaway Co., Missouri. He was a son of William Henry Millard of Wisconsin and Lucy Josephine Adams of Indiana.

Oliver Millard and Ida Carrington had 10 children:

    • Married, Eva J. Day, b: abt. 1908, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri, d: Feb. 19, 1999, Ohio, buried Crown Hill Cemetery, Akron, Ohio. She was a daughter of Emuel Day and Gertrude Fisher and was my 2nd cousin twice removed.

On the 1910 census, Oliver T. Millard 26, is working in a sawmill. This would be the original Carrington sawmill where Ida's father Nathanial also worked. They are living in Fulton Township, on Fulton East Road. The 1920 census is not readable. In the 1930 census, they rent for $25.00, he is an engineer in the power plant at Fulton.

Ida Carrington Millard died April 5, 1930, in Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri. She is buried in Hillcrest cemetery, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri.

Mrs. Oliver Millard Died Saturday Resident of Fulton Passed Away After Illness of About Ten Days.
     Mrs. Ida Lee Millard, 45 years old, died Saturday morning at 8:10 o'clock at her home on East Eight street, after an illness of about ten days caused by pneumonia and complications.
     Funeral services will be held at the Christian church Sunday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock conducted by the pastor, the Rev. W. Garnet Alcorn, and burial will be in Hillcrest cemetery.
     Mrs. Millard was born in Callaway county, and had lived in and near Fulton all her life. She is survived by her husband, Oliver T. Millard, and ten children: Earnest, of St. Louis; Roy, of Fulton; Henry, of Marthasbville, and Lora May, Bernice, Freddy, Johnny, Robert, Woodrow and Lois Dean, all at home. Her mother, Mrs. Eliza Carrington, two brothers, Carson D. Carrington and G. Elmer Carrington, and one sister, Mrs. Eula Maddox, all of Fulton, also survive. She leaves two grandchildren, Helen Frances Millard and Norma Fay Millard.
     Mrs. Millard united with the Christian church at an early age. Friends extend sympathy to all those who are bereaved by her death.

Oliver T. Millard died in September 1963 and is buried in Hillcrest cemetery, Fulton, Callaway Co., Missouri.
